04 plate BMW 316i : Brake warning light and DSC indicator turn orange occasionally?
Hi,
I have 316i with a 04 plate, covered about 63000 miles, just had a Inspection 2 done.
My car runs fine, as you would expectfrom a well maintained car of this age and mileage.
Yesterday, when I was driving, the brake warning light and DSC indicator turned orange. I stopped the car, switched off the ignition, and then switched the ignition on. This time, the warning lights did not turn orange. Something very similar happened about 10 days back.
Any idea what is malfunctioning here, and how much (approximately) it would cost to get it fixed?

Before dismantling half the car, could you have driven on slippery surfaces, a pothole, or a hump (the last at some speed) and made one of the wheels momentarily lose contact with the road or turned faster than the others?
If so then it is normal for the ABS/ASC/DSC lights to come on temporarily.
If the checklights stay on then it is time to have it diagnosed by an
experienced and properly equipped BMW technician (whether in an independent or dealer is your choice). Do not try to diagnose or repair it yourself. Remember that this is a safety issue and your well being as well as your passengers and pedestrians are at stake.
Do not also have it diagnosed or repaired by a BMW wannabe who in most instances know virtually nothing about BMW systems and would only make you do or spend for things that are not needed.
